Our New Priests

Our New Priests
Today, we welcome our new priests to St. Philip: Fr. Joe Garbarino as Pastor, and Fr. Jared Brogan as Parochial Vicar. In my estimation, they will be a great team to lead our parish for many years to come and we are most fortunate. I have known both men since ordination to be dedicated and good priests and I will be happy to work with them.
Fr. Joe comes to us after serving the people of St. Pius X in Montville, NJ for fifteen years. He brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise in directing a large parish of 2500 families. During his tenure, he extended the vestibule of the Church making it easier for people to gather outside the sanctuary. He upgraded the school and provided the parking area around the Church and made it more accessible and convenient for people.
Fr. Joe is well versed in scriptures and bible studies, and has undertaken advanced studies in spiritual direction and religious education for the past two years. Since his teenage years, he and his family have lived in nearby Wayne, where he attended DePaul High School. He is friendly and affable and has a keen sense of humor and we are happy that he will now share his talents and gifts with us at St. Philip.
I met Fr. Jared for the first time on the day of his ordination to the priesthood at St. Philip two years ago. We discussed a classmate of mine and a very dear friend from the Diocese of Brooklyn who had passed away. Fr. Jared comes to us from Brooklyn New York and has served the people of St. Margaret in Morristown since his diaconate year. Like Fr. Joe, Fr. Jared looks forward to coming to St. Philip and working with us. He is very much interested in our Catholic School and will be very much involved. Before his studies for the priesthood, Fr. Jared was a speech language pathologist and is bilingual. You will find him easily accessible and welcoming, and we wish him and Fr. Joe many years of spiritual and pastoral fulfillment with us.
