PRAYER FOR A COMPASSIONATE HEART

Eternal Heart of the Universe,
I am wrapped in the womb of morning.
I am one with the cooing of doves
And the green of the river’s edge.
I am a part of the slowly moving water
and the grayness of the wide sky.
All of who I am turns around and walks
toward the center of my being.
I feel a oneness with all of life.

In this moment I know for certain
that each creature, insect, stone, and plant,
each woman, man, and child, young and old,
are all my sisters and my brothers.
No part of life is separate from me.
Their joy and happiness is my joy and happiness.
Their suffering and sorrow is my suffering and sorrow.

Each of us dwells within you, Womb of Love.
You are the container of our lives.
You are the sources of all nourishment.
the safe hold for each of us in our vulnerability.

Each Heart of the Universe,
I stretch out to touch you in the myriad creations
that have danced to life from you, the Source.
Thank you for all these relatives of mine.
They will receive good care from me.

A Generous Response

Generous Love,
Create in me a welcoming space
Where I will readily embrace
Those who need my compassion.

Free me from selfish withholding
of my time and presence.
Clear out all resistance to giving
of my kindness and understanding.
May the generous availability
of your love for me,
Influence and inspire
my loving embrace of others
who hurt and struggle.

Month of Prayer for Those Suffering Religious Persecution

Prayer for those suffering religious persecution

Good and gracious Father, whose own Beloved Son
suffered Violence and death for the salvation of the
world, Listen graciously to our cry for all who are being
persecuted for their faith.
In your great mercy, comfort them with the Holy Spirit.
Give them strength in the face of hostility and courage in the face of trial.

Open the eyes of those who raise their hands in violence to see others as their brothers and sisters, children of the one Father of all.
By your grace, turn their hearts from hatred to love.

Through the powerful intercession of the Immaculate
Queen of Peace, may justice and peace prevail
So that all may have the freedom to worship you,
The one true God and him whom you have sent,
Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you in the unity
of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen

WE WELCOME

Sister Judith Gomila, MSC is speaking this weekend at all of the Masses.

Benefiting Community to Appeal

In the 1840’s and 1850’s, Blessed Basil Moreau, a man of keen vision and contagious zeal, sent his Holy Cross religious from France to serve in the “mission territories” of Indiana, Quebec, Louisiana, Poland, Bengal, and Algeria. When he barely had more than a handful of followers, Moreau dispersed his little Holy Cross family to all corners of the globe in Jesus’ name.

The Marianites of Holy Cross were invited by Bishop Thomas Kabore, Diocese of Kaya, Burkina Faso, Africa, to minister to his people in a new parish, Holy Family. Since June of 2011, four sisters are there in pastoral ministry in this poverty-stricken, landlocked, arid desert. Aware of the dramatic felt needs of their people – drought, famine, health issues, lack of education – the Marianites have opened: The CREN (Center for Recuperation by Education and Nutrition) for mothers and severely under-nourished children, a school for evangelization and academics, a pharmacy/dispensary.

In 2014, more than 1000 children were brought back to health and 10,000 patients came to be treated for malaria, dysentery, pneumonia, dehydration, skin diseases, etc. The Sisters also provide adult religious formation for RCIA and for candidates, expressing interest in beginning a local religious congregation.

Just as mission sends us across borders, your prayers and financial support will give YOU a missionary presence in the Diocese of Kaya, and assist the Marianites of Holy Cross in their willingness to embrace this ministry with our sisters and brothers and the challenges it presents.
