Blessed are You, Lord and Father of All Life,
who has given to us
the gift of the father of our family.
Today, we honor him,
and we thank You for the numerous good things
that are ours because of him.
His love for us
has been a sign of Your divine affection
and a sharing in Your holy love.
His continuous concern for our needs and welfare
is a mirror of Your holy providence.
And so, as we honor him,
we praise You, Father of All Peoples.

Bless him this day
with Your strength and holy power
that he may continue to be a sign of You, our God,
and a priestly parent to our family.

May we, the members of his family,
assist him in his holy duties as a parent
with our respect,
our obedience
and our deep affection.

Bless him, Lord,
with happiness and good health,
and with peace,
so that he who has shared of his very life
may live forever with You,
his God and heavenly Father.

This blessing and all graces, we pray,
descend upon the father of our family:
in the name of the Father,
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Bishop Serratelli has named Fr. Julio Barrios Chaplain of De Paul High School in Wayne for the 2018 – 2019 academic year. Fr. Julio will take residence in the Church of the Annunciation in Wayne.

Fr. Julio’s gifts of enthusiasm, concern for pastoral care and interest in a holistic approach to spirituality will serve the students, faculty and families of De Paul Catholic as he fosters the school’s mission through his leadership.

In his letter of appointment Bishop praised Fr. Julio for serving the people of St. Philip the Apostle, “with great zeal and enthusiasm.” Praise for Fr. Julio continues as the Bishop writes, “Your reliance upon the grace of God along with your intelligence and wisdom will serve you well as you begin a new chapter in your priestly service…”

Please keep Fr. Julio in your prayer during this time of transition as he prepares to assume the responsibility for the spiritual welfare of the premier Catholic High School in Passaic County.

In gratitude for Fr. Julio’s two and one-half years of faithful service to Saint Philip the Apostle we will hold a congratulatory weekend on Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24 when Fr. Julio will preach at all the Masses.

Following the twelve noon Mass on Sunday we will honor him at a Presentation of Thanksgiving and cake reception in the auditorium at 1PM sharp. Please join us.

As has been done for the past several years, parishes will take up a collection on Father’s Day in support of seminarian education. These funds, along with the support given through the Bishop’s Annual Appeal, are a tremendous help as we provide for the education of those men preparing for priestly life in our Diocese

“Hello everyone, my name is Fr. Joseph. I am one of the nine men who were recently ordained this past May for the Diocese of Paterson. I want to begin by saying how happy and excited I am that Bishop Serratelli has assigned me to your parish!

I grew up not too far from Clifton in the town of Rockaway, NJ, where I have lived my whole life. Growing up in Rockaway, my home parish was St. Cecilia’s, and it was there that I attended their parochial school. After graduating from St. Cecilia’s, I attended Morris Hills High School, and following my graduation in 2010, I joined the Diocese of Paterson as a seminarian where I attended the College Seminary at Seton Hall University. In 2014, I graduated from Seton Hall and began graduate studies at Theological College, which is the Major Seminary at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.

While studying in D.C., I was able to meet seminarians from around the country, so one of the activities I really enjoy doing is traveling to visit friends and experience different regional foods, so I guess you could say that I am a “foodie” of sorts. Another activity I really enjoy doing is fishing. Living in Rockaway there are many lakes in the town itself, as well as the surrounding towns, so I enjoy fishing on them during the summer. I also enjoy gardening and growing different kinds of vegetables over the summer.

I am excited to meet all of you in person and to talk with you all in the next couple of weeks. Please pray for me as I begin my first assignment as a priest, with you all at St Philip’s, and I will be praying for you all. I am excited and looking forward to being able to minister to you and to be a part of your community.

God Bless,
Fr. Joseph Boykow

The Year of our Lord 2018 is our parish Jubilee commemorating 75 years of fulfilling our mission of Opus Christi –which is Latin for Christ’s Work. During the decades our parish has been love in action, bringing good news through spiritual, service and social ministry. Jesus said to our parish patron St. Philip, “Whoever believes in me will do the works I do and even great works.” John 14:22

Our Jubilee Prayer
Rejoicing in you, O Lord, with thankful hearts we pray as . . .
We Remember
gratefully our past companions on the Journey
whose sacrifice inspires us.
We Celebrate
the good news of love in action that empowers spiritual,
service and social ministry.
We Believe
In God’s providence as faithful stewards who continue
work using the Keys to the Kingdom. Amen
