We Remember, We Celebrated, We believe

We remember all who have been called home by name. We celebrate God’s gift of eternal life on this festive weekend commemorating the communion of Saints. We believe that God whispers our names tenderly in prayer. One day we will hear the voice of the Good Shepherd say to us face to face, “Come you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of time.”

Scripture Reflection

God calls each one by name. Everyone’s name is sacred… It demands respect as a sign of the dignity of the one who bears it. (Catechism 2158)

– Do not fear, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by name, you are mine. (Isaiah 43:1)
– Can a mother forget her nursing child, or show no compassion for the child of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will never forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands. (Isaiah 49:15,16)
– I will give them an everlasting name that shall not be cut off. (Isaiah 56:5)
– You shall be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will give. You shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of the Lord… You shall no more be termed “Forsaken… but you shall be called my delight. (Isaiah 62:2-4)
– Rejoice that you names are written in heaven. (Luke 10:20)

Prayer Activity: Bring to mind the names of those you have known who have died and now live in the Lord. Thank them for their contributions to your life. Ask for their help along your journey to the kingdom.
