FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Dear Parishioners,

When I was assigned to St. Philip the Apostle back in 2021, I was given not only a wonderful assignment, but a wonderful associate, Fr. Nico Quintos. I had known Fr. Nico since he came to the diocese back in 2017. He was a good seminarian and known for his work ethic and good sense of humor. I was honored when he was ordained, that he ask me to vest him on the day of his ordination in 2020. Little did I know that in less than a year, I would be his pastor. I was worried that in this role, our friendship might be ruined. To live with a friend is one thing, to be his supervisor is another! However, after several weeks, I knew I had nothing to worry about. He has proved himself a most competent priest, well organized, and devoted to parish life. I was truly blessed to have had him for the past three years. I know he will go on to continue to serve the people of God here in the Diocese of Paterson and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I will miss him greatly, but know he received great experiences here at St. Philip’s that will make him a good pastor in the future. Thank you, Fr. Nico, for being the priest you are and having the heart of Jesus Christ. May God Bless you always.

I encourage us all to pray for Fr. Nico and to encourage vocations to the priesthood. Without the priest, there is no Eucharist, without the Eucharist, there is no Roman Catholic Church.

Peace,
Fr. Monteleone
