Faith Formation Registration 2020

Dear Parents,

Please know that you and your loved ones have been in our prayer throughout these last months during the health crises. Hopefully you have been sharing the Eucharist and other spiritual opportunities with us online.  Our spiritual lives have never been more important. During all of the uncertainties, faith in God and a profound trust in Providence are our source of strength and peace. Your registration in our Faith Formation Program is a decision for the well being of your child and is an avenue for your own spiritual development.

Registration will remain open until September 12 in order to ensure the timely delivery and distribution of program materials. Enrollment is offered to all registered parishioners. (Not sure if you are registered? Please contact the Parish Office 973-779-6200.)

Given the current situation, we are modifying our traditional program, as we keep in mind the health and safety of all involved in our program. Through December we will implement a distance learning program – with personal reflections and assignments submitted online, virtual monthly class sessions on Sunday mornings, and other opportunities for socially-distanced prayer and reflection. We will assess how to proceed before the January session.

Gathering as a community of faith for the Eucharist is where we are nourished spiritually, enriched socially and empowered for service to others. The least health risk is taken by not gathering in groups. While our Church is open for in-person Eucharist, and even though best practices of social distancing are in place, there is no expectation for you to physically attend services at this time. Instead, you and your family, like many others, may participate via our online live-streamed broadcasts and receive a Spiritual Communion. The Eucharist is the center of our Catholic life, and as such it is important that the family participate in Sunday Mass throughout the year, as well as gather together to pray daily. In order to help our families more easily participate in the Mass, our Religious Education and Confirmation Program sessions are held on Sunday mornings. This year, we will shift our schedule around the 10AM Sunday Mass, which will continue to be live-streamed.

Before starting the registration process, please make sure to have the following documents and information:

  • For the Religious Education Program (Grades 1-8): Baptismal Certificate
  • For the Confirmation Program (Grades 9-10): Baptismal Certificate and First Communion Certificate
  • If your child was enrolled in the Religious Education Program at another parish previously, have the copy of their certificate/letter of completion.

The registration fee will be collected as the final step in the registration process. (Please note that a sacrament fee is included for students in the second year of sacramental preparation for First Communion and Confirmation.)

If you have any questions, please email us at: reled@stphilip.org. We are looking forward to a wonderful year ahead!

Remember to pray as you stay. May serenity, in the midst of adversity, be yours through Christ our Lord
