From Ashes to Easter
Love built Saint Philip the Apostle Church so a heart is at the center of this image. The etched words of Jesus, “Love one another as I have loved you” are the heartbeat of our parish. Notice the arches that are the signature architectural piece of our worship space. Early in our history, fire ravaged the church and from the ashes came resurrection and a renewed sense of mission, ministry and an exciting time as the parish and school flourished. The rainbow symbolizes God’s promise to be forever with us. The lovely vessel of Chrism evokes the work of the Holy Spirit who abides with us through the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Priesthood Ordination. Notice the lattice pattern which is also found in the priest vestment of Jesus in the sixth window depicting the commissioning of Saint Philip for ministry. This is a prayerful thank you for the many priests who served our parish through the decades. The Sacrament of Marriage is symbolized through the three intersecting rings that mirror the love that is shared in all committed relationships which are the source and summit of all love… the union of self, another and God.
